Youth Ministries

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”  Matthew 22:37-39

The purpose of Youth Ministries at Coon Rapids Free is to help students understand and live out these commandments.

In order to help fulfill our mission, we aim to:

  • Glorify God in all we do
  • Develop intentional relationships
  • Communicate the Word of God
  • Communicate a proper concept of Christ
  • Develop a prayerful dependence on the Lord
  • Move youth toward maturity

The youth groups are divided into Middle School (6th - 8th grade) and High School (9th - 12th grade). Calendars are available at the church and on-line. They detail the activities planned for the month and are a good source of information about upcoming events.

The youth groups are led by the Youth Pastor along with a staff of volunteer adult leaders. All of the leaders are required to participate in our Child Abuse Prevention Training to help ensure a safe environment for students.

Sunday School

Sunday School is held on mornings during the 10:45 ministry hour. Classes are designed for students who desire to grow in their faith in Christ. The high school classes include a variety of topics relevant to the lives of students in today’s culture. The middle school curriculum includes Bible Instruction (B.I.C.) which challenges the students in their knowledge and application of the Bible. They are encouraged in memory work and complete a survey of both the Old and New Testaments. An overview of the classes is available from the office.

Youth Group

The youth group generally meets once per week throughout the school year on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. They include a social time, praise & worship, teaching, and small groups.

Socials

Various social activities are offered each month providing the students with an opportunity to bring friends for fun, food, and fellowship.

Service Opportunities and Missions Projects

Various service opportunities and missions projects are offered each year. The group has served in Minnesota, Iowa, Kentucky, Mexico, Trinidad and more!

Conferences and Retreats

Two or more retreats/conferences are offered each year for the students that help them grow in their love for Jesus and others. Each spring the North Central District Student Ministries Conference (Districts) is held, and every other year the youth attend the National EFCA Student Ministries Conference. These conferences are favorites of the youth and have a lasting impact on the spiritual growth of the students.
