Youth Summer Missions

What an awesome opportunity our students had this summer to be Christ’s hands and feet to our community and to the world!

Our youth group participated in five different ministry outreaches this summer. One group of students served at two camps in Minnesota, while another group ministered at a local appartment building in the Twin Cities area. Three other groups ministered in Kentucky, Mexico, and Guatemala.

At a local apartment building, ten middle school students and five sponsors helped with various projects such as painting, cleaning, organizing, library work, and a VBS-type day. One little boy at the apartments said, “This is the most fun I’ve ever had.” What an impact!

Six students served at Camp Shamineau and Camp Cherith in Minnesota. Working with so many campers and staff offered many opportunities to practice loving others as Christ loves. There was a lot of hard work in hot weather, but the work was rewarding. It was a great joy to see the excitement in the campers who prayed to receive Christ.

Another team traveled to Viper, Kentucky to help at Twin Rocks Bible Camp. The team was greatly impacted by the servant’s heart of the missionary couple that runs the camp. The team was also touched by the poverty in that area. The church was very rustic, but that didn’t seem to make a difference to the people—they worshipped from the heart. Our students and sponsors helped prepare for the camp season by cleaning, repairing, landscaping and cement work.

Another team traveled to Reynosa, Mexico. They did some construction work and took part in outreach opportunities at a city park and in the surrounding community. The Mexican people were very receptive to the gospel. The team was impressed by the joy that the people had amidst their difficult situations.

The Guatemala Team spent time sharing Christ’s love and ministering to the material needs of people in Zacapa and in a remote village. They also did construction work at the House of Hope Orphanage. The group of students and sponsors bonded well and accomplished a lot. Each team member has a story of how they saw God at work, or of what impacted them the most. Many lives were touched and changed by the work of the Spirit.

What a blessing to have so many of our students and sponsors be a part of these mission trips.
